Group Activity – Pictionary Students will discuss within their groups, inappropriate content in movies or television
shows that they have seen. Groups will select one of the movies or shows discussed, to
“Institutional Culture”
draw a scene from on large Post-it boards. No words are allowed on the drawings.
Students are encouraged to “let their hair down”. Once all groups are complete, other
groups will attempt to guess the correct movie or television show depicted. Once the
activity is complete, the instructor will point out all of the inappropriate discussions and
behaviors witnessed during the activity, and ask why the students participated in this
inappropriate behavior in a “Sheriff’s Office” training class. The obvious answers are;
“you told us to” and “everyone else was doing it”!
The objective of the activity is to demonstrate:
“Institutional Culture”
Instructors will discuss:
How quickly the class was persuaded to engage in the inappropriate behavior.
If the leaders allow it, it must be ok.
Whatever is tolerated becomes the standard.
Even those who are hesitant at first often become involved once they see everyone
else participating.
Make sure everyone understands the purpose of the activity and no one is offended.
