REFERENCE: Fresno County Administrative Officer's Management Directives, Sections
110 and 1770.
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this policy is to establish and maintain the proper use of signs in all Fresno
County Sheriff's Office Jail Division facilities
POLICY:
It is the policy of the Fresno County Sheriffs Office Jail Division that all signs shall be
professionally engraved and have a uniform appearance. Handwritten signs shall not be
posted in any facility.
PROCEDURES:
I. HANDWRITTEN SIGNS AND MEMOS
A. Handwritten signs shall not be utilized except in the event of an
emergency and then only with the prior approval of the Watch
Commander.
B. If there appears to be a need to post a sign, the proposing staff member
shall submit a memo to their Watch Commander with the suggestion
and justification for the sign.
C. The staff member's suggestion and justification shall be reviewed by
supervising staff for recommendation to implement or reject, and the
recommendation will then be forwarded to the appropriate Bureau
Commander.
D. Final approval for a sign shall rest with the Bureau Commanders.
E. Any typed memos necessary for a work area should only be posted on
bulletin boards.
