Electronic Weapons Operator Course
Course Outline
I. GOAL
Correctional Officers/Peace Officers through the basic operational theory and practical
training will learn and understand how to safely and effectively operate the TASER X26E
and/or the TASER X26P Conducted Electrical Weapons (CEW).
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
A. Demonstrate proper safety protocols associated with the TASER X26E/X26P through
proper handling of the device
B. Articulate the department policy as it relates to the use of TASER
C. Interpret Case Law associated with TASER in instructor facilitated discussion
D. Demonstrate the ability to properly arm and disarm the TASER X26E/X26P
E. Perform a “spark” test
F. Explain the possible variations of application and post deployment treatment
G. Demonstrate the ability to load and reload cartridges in a safe manner
H. Successfully deploy two X26E/X26P cartridges at a stationary target
