Unit 22 Physical Tasks UNIT 22 LESSON PLAN PHYSICAL TASKS Instructional Time: 21 hours BST #35, 36, 37, 38. Unit 22.1: Orientation and Assessment 4 hours UNIT PRESENTATION AND OUTLINE NOTES 22.1.1 PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE: Participate in an individual self-assessment evaluation comprised of the following: 1. Timed 1.5 – 3 mile run or walk. 2. Flexibility exercises (such as sit and reach) for hamstring and back. 3. Baseline number of push-ups and sit-ups. 4. Body composition by fat (using normative guidelines). 22.1.2 PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE: Demonstrate self-monitoring techniques for use in an individual exercise program such as the following: 1. Heart rate. 2. Perceived exertion. 3. Body mass (weight/height) norms. 22.1.3 PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE: Identify the major injuries that might disable a corrections officer, such as: 1. Knee injuries. 2. Back injuries. 22.1.4 BST #35 PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE: Complete a 50-yard sprint within 20 seconds. 1. Complete a 50-yard sprint within 20 seconds. 2. Note: Not to exceed 2 hours in any one day. Resistance training to be performed with at least one full training day in between sessions. 3
