One-Minute Brief(s) 2019 IV. First Aid/CPR/AED Students will complete the (8) hour "classroom" portion via the P.O.S.T. Learning Portal. In this section the (4) hour hands-on psycho-motor skills portion will be conducted to which the students will have practical and scenario based testing by P.O.S.T. certified instructors. Testing Process A. Tac-Med Scenarios 1 . Scenario #1: Deputies respond to a mock traffic collision requiring the deputy to provide care for tan infant having been ejected from a vehicle. The deputy will be required to: • Assess the scene and victim • Perform rescue breathing • Clear an obstruction • Perform 1 person CPR 2. Scenario #2: Two deputies (Bailiff and patrol deputy testifying on a case) will be in a courtroom setting. A member of the court will suffer a medical emergency requiring the Bailiff and Officer to work as a two-person team to: • Assess the scene and victim • Begin CPR • Retrieve an AED • Complete AED and CPR as a two-person team ADVANCED OFFICER TRAINING Course Outline 3. Scenario #3: Deputies will be placed in a TCCC scenario on the range. Students will be required to: • Engage a threat accurately and conduct safe weapons handling • Rescue a downed officer • Provide a tourniquet application • Address an additional threat • Provide care for a junctional injury • Provide care for a tension pneumothorax injury • Conduct one-person CPR Minimum standards of performance shall be tested by an instructor observing the student during their performance of each technique and exercise. If the student does not meet minimum standards, as established by the presenter, remediation will be provided until the standard is met.
