Zanoni APPROVED BY: Captain R. Wiley REFERENCE: Sheriffs Department, County of Fresno Policy and Procedure Manual Section 201(111). PURPOSE: The purpose of this policy is to establish and maintain a consistent method for changing or canceling a scheduled inmate activity or event at any of the detention facilities. POLICY: It is the policy of the Fresno County Sheriffs Department Detention Custody Bureau that any change in a scheduled inmate activity or event shall be made only with the approval of the Bureau Commander or the Watch Commander. PROCEDURES: 1. SCHEDULED INMATE ACTIVITIES Scheduled inmate activities include but are not limited to the following: A. Visiting B. Attorney interviews C. Meal service D. Sick call E. Alcoholic Anonymous meetings or any other scheduled substance abuse treatment program G. Chaplain services H. Exercise/yard time I. Law Library II. STAFF MEMBER RESPONSIBILITY A. Staff members shall notify the Facility Sergeant when circumstances arise which may warrant the change or canceling of any scheduled inmate activity or event. B. The Sergeant shall notify the on-duty Watch Commander of the situation and the circumstances surrounding the incident. The Sergeant shall then inform the staff member(s) in the affected area of the Watch Commander's decision. III. WATCH COMMANDER RESPONSIBILITY A. The Watch Commander shall review the situation and insure that all appropriate reports are written regarding the change orcancellation of the activity or event and take the appropriate action (if necessary), to have the event rescheduled. B. The Watch Commander shall notify the Bureau Commanderwhen any scheduled activity or event is canceled. If the Bureau Commander is not available, they shall be notified on their next scheduled workday, via a memo which notes the event changed or canceled and the justification for the Watch Commander's decision.
